Editing Packages
Line & Copy Editing
I offer line and copy editing as an integrated service as I believe both are required and offer the most value to clients as a complete package.
During a line edit, I want to make sure your writing is as sharp as possible, conveying your message effectively without detracting from your unique voice. I will also flag any plot inconsistencies, and issues with character POV.
Copy editing involves checking grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, flow, word choice, applying consistency to the language and formatting, and making sure it’s clear and reads well for its intended purpose.
Proofreading
Your book has already gone through a developmental edit, line edit and/or copy editing, and you're confident that it is in fairly good shape. You're looking for a final pass with a qualified pair of fresh eyes to make sure all the errors have been caught.
This is not just a case of running it through a spellchecker. You need someone to cross check chapter numbers, headings, time stamps, page numbers, word breaks, and consistency of formatting.
While we pride ourselves on our eagle eyes, even the best editors might miss the odd mistake during the first round of editing. The proofreading stage is an opportunity to catch any lingering issues, and is vitally important to the success of your manuscript.
